Orange tobiko, or Japanese flying fish roe, is a versatile and visually striking culinary delicacy beloved worldwide. Measuring between 0.5 and 1.5 mm in diameter, these naturally semi-translucent, golden-orange pearls are gently cured with ingredients like salt, soy sauce, mirin, and rice vinegar to enhance their delicate umami profile.

The defining characteristic of orange tobiko is its fantastic, crisp "pop" in the mouth, which adds a fantastic textural contrast to soft foods like avocado, rice, or raw fish. While famously used to top classic sushi makis (such as the California roll), it is equally ideal for garnishing poke bowls, canapés, creamy pasta, and sashimi. Beyond its aesthetic and textural appeal, orange tobiko is a nutrient-dense ingredient, rich in lean protein, Vitamin B12, and heart-healthy Omega-3 fatty acids.
